Hi, Arrington here again. After a good night's sleep, I took another look at the picture and realized that this might not be a pain medication free birth (catheter, mother's position on back...). Anyway, I'm very curious to know more about the circumstances if you are willing to share, especially since the baby appears so with it (great eye contact & focus)!

After reading a bunch of really depressing posts on Facebook, I came across yours. Now I can't stop smiling. All births are little miracles, but a natural birth just takes it to the next level. You won't see a baby that has been exposed to epidural anesthesia engaging like this! What an incredible picture!! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to be able to feature it on our natural parenting website.

Amazing to have caught a picture of it! I was a doula at a friends birth & I was the first person the baby saw. Eyes wide open & totally made eye contact with mine! Only his head was out at that point. We connected a few more times as we were trying to get him to get his shoulder out!

Many people have asked if this photo is for real. It most definitely is and I felt so fortunate to be able to capture that incredible birth when little Sophia looked up at the midwife with those huge, aware newborn eyes and that indescribable expression on her beautiful face. A mesmerizing and breathtaking moment in time.
